Randall Donald: wacky screens

So after the upgrade to xorg-server-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-2 on my home machine my second screen has gone wacky thinking it is the size of the first screen. I choose to use multiple X screens and it seems I ran into
#420679.
It's a good thing I didn't upgrade on my work machine yet where I run three screens. If anyone knows of a workaround I'd be grateful to filled in.

Randall Donald: Juast a quick FYI

Among other work I have to do I have started nvidia-graphics-drivers 1.0.9755 and nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-96xx 1.0.9631.
I'll be upgrading legacy-71xx to 7185 as well.

Randall Donald: PHP IDE

Dear Lazyweb,

The company I work is going through a merger of sorts and the amount of our php development will probably be up. We have our Java environment working pretty good now with Netbeans and subversion in both Linux and Windows so we'd like the same features for php, specifically:

1) Both Windows and Linux support
2) Debugging
3) Not too ugly an UI ;)

Somehow I figure eclipse may work its way into this but I'm not sure I want that.

So what recommendations do you have?

P.S. I'm gonna do some NVIDIA stuff on the weekend if not sooner.

Randall Donald: What to call 9631?

As there are now tow legacy versions of the NVIDIA drivers the question comes up, "What do we call this new one?"

Here is a poll where you can give me feedback on the issue.

Package naming format for 9631 legacy drivers

31 December 2006

Randall Donald: Now with wfb!!

9746 packaages now come (just uploaded) with libnvidia-wfb flavouring for 8800 peeps.

29 December 2006

Randall Donald: Ack! We need 9631!

Ok. Since I have uploaded 1.0.9746 I need to make a packaging change regarding the 1.0.9631 drivers which are now another legacy version, but not as legacy as 7184 if that makes sense. 7184 might become something like -ancient if it still be kept around.

If you need 1.0.9631 you can find it here http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2006/12/08/debian/pool/non-free/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers/
for now.

27 December 2006

Randall Donald: 9746 for you 8800 freaks

The 1.0.9746 drivers have been uploaded to experimental. Thanks to Kinxof Sepluv for directing what I was gonna work on today.

8 December 2006

Randall Donald: 9631

The 9631 drivers have entered experimental. That's where they be if you be wanting them until etch is settled.

2 December 2006

Randall Donald: 2.6.18-3 and #400129

So yesterday I upload all four sets of 2.6.18-3 NVIDIA modules to NEW. I also have been able to reproduce #400129 and the problem is with what I thought it was. I should have a fix later today.

Randall Donald: A Year of Pushing

As of yesterday, I have been at my current workplace, Push72, for one year. There have been a few ups and downs along the way and my job has changed somewhat from being strictly a programmer to doing mostly system administration now. The environment reminds me of Stormix where my co-workers became good friends. Here's hoping for another good year!

21 November 2006

Randall Donald: Those 2.6.18-2 modules

Those 2.6.18-2 modules for legacy and non-legacy NVIDIA drivers have entered the NEW queue and hopefully etch once 2.6.18 does. I will upload 9742 to experimental shortly. Given the issues with NV2x and such (see nvnews.net for more) 8776 will be the drivers for etch. Once they hit testing, 9629 will enter unstable.

19 October 2006

Randall Donald: 1.0.8776

Just a heads up: I'll try to get the 1.0.8776 bug fix release packages created tonight plus modules and such.

Randall Donald: Doing the "Got it working" dance

Yay! I have a VPN now set up at the office and tested with Linux and windows clients using OpenVPN. Interestingly I may have found my problem with Openswan while getting the OpenVPN server to work. But I now have a working solution and it impressed the management-types.

Randall Donald: Here's Hoping

So 1.0.8774-5 have now been uploaded to the archive hopefully fixing the libgl-dev situation plus the upgrade path.

10 October 2006

Randall Donald: Buggy Bug

So while I was trying to fix my RC bug this long weekend I found out it no longer exists, the problem I mean. libGL.so now points to libGL.so.1 which will exist. This now raises another problem as this is probably not the behaviour sought when nvidia-glx is installed. Fortunately the way I was going to fix the RC bug can be slightly modified to cure this issue.

Randall Donald: swan unable to fly

So I've been hitting my head over the last few days trying to set up an VPN at work. I'm using openswan on both ends. One side is the NAT gateway and I think that's where the problem lies. The tunnel does establish and I can ping both hosts. The layout is basically:

192.168.72.0/24 --- [ NAT / FW / VPNleft ] -- Internet -- [VPNright]

I'm sure many people have done this but I can't get access to the priavte subnet via the right side or access the right side from the subnet. If anybody has a similar setup and wouldn't mind sharing ( randy@khensu.org )their ipsec.conf and firewall script it would be appreciated.

Randall Donald: Beta Packages

nvidia-graphics-drivers_1.0.9625-1_amd64+i386.changes ACCEPTED

The beta drivers 1.0.9625-1 has been uploaded to experimental This first release does not include zander's i2c patch.

23 September 2006

Randall Donald: Into the pot you go!

So I guess I should make notice that both current and legacy drivers supporting Xorg 7.1 are now in unstable after initially sitting in experimental.

In related news, NVIDIA released beta drivers, 1.0-9625 with initial support for GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap plus a few other features. I am currently running packages of these and will be making them available shortly. Props out to the Debian subversion maintainers and utility creators.
